Principal

Welcome from Principal Marlatt
My name is Ana Marlatt, and I am honored and excited to serve as the principal of Second Creek Elementary. This school holds a rich history within our wonderful community, and I’m proud to continue that legacy alongside you.
Before stepping into this role, I spent over 20 years as a classroom teacher in both Denver Public Schools and 27J. I then served as an instructional coach and, most recently, as the Assistant Principal here at Second Creek for two years. These experiences have deeply shaped my belief in the power of strong relationships, excellent teaching, and inclusive school communities.
Originally from Brazil, I understand the journey many of our families take in learning English as a second language. With over 30 languages represented at Second Creek, I celebrate the rich diversity that makes our school so special.
My family has called Brighton home for the past 24 years. My husband and I are both educators, and we’ve raised three amazing children here. We’re also proud grandparents to two sweet grandsons!
Outside of school, I enjoy biking, gardening, and spending time with family. I’m also a lifelong reader, and I bring that passion for literacy into my role as principal. Whether I’m reading aloud to a group of students or supporting teachers in cultivating a love of books in their classrooms, I believe literacy opens doors for every child.
I look forward to partnering with you to continue building a welcoming, joyful, and growth-focused culture at Second Creek. Great schools are rooted in great teaching and strong family connections, and I am committed to fostering both.
Thank you for being a vital part of our school community. I can't wait to get to know you and your children better!
And remember, it is always a great day to be a Bison, so be Bison Strong!
Sincerely,
Ana Marlatt
Principal, Second Creek Elementary
